Cambridge, Maryland
Jellyfish? Jellyfish! The beautiful late summer dawn brought eight of our athletes a shocking awakening as the first sting of the jellies in the Choptank River rudely reminded them: This isn’t going to be easy. But, hard work pays off as the relatively quick swim turned into a flat, fast bike. Two loops through the Blackwater Preserve demonstrated Maryland’s serenity and beauty, while testing the endurance and fortitude of over 1,500 competitors. While the sun shone brightly over the course, beating the sunset was the goal. Joe F. and Nicole S. pushed it for PRs on their second and third fulls, respectively. For others, like Jeremy O., Jon S., and Stephen O., finishing their first IronMan was the ultimate prize. Jenny D. also pushed her bike pace up, grabbing a PR and some great shots along the course. But, the star of the race was the support crew, stationed under the team tent along the run course, full of cheers, beers, and tears! A special shoutout to our families and friends who support us in this lifestyle of pain and happiness. Until next time, jellyfish.
